Encrypting a hard drive with a password offers more protection to your files, specially if your computer is being used by more that more person. Windows 8 BitLocker allows you to password lock a specific drive, so that only users with the password can access this specific drive. This tutorial will show you how to secure your computer by encrypting any of your hard drive using Windows 8 BitLocker.
Note: Make sure you are logged in with an admin account so that you can perform the below steps
To use Windows 8 BitLocker follow the below steps:
1. From your start screen user interface, go to the Desktop tile and click on it to you’re your Desktop, as you can see in the below screenshot.
2. From Desktop, go to Windows explorer located on the bottom left corner of the desktop screen as seen in the below screenshot.
6.You will be asked to enter your password, so go ahead and choose a password and type it in.
7. You will be prompted to save your recovery key. You can save this key on your SkyDrive, to a file or even print a file.
Note: You can’t save the key on an encrypted file or you will get the below error:
“This Location can’t be used. Your recovery key can’t be saved to an encrypted drive. Choose a different location”
9. You will then have to confirm that you are ready, and then run the BitLocker system check. And you are done.
