Windows 8 Administrator Account is not activated by default. This tutorial explains different options, of how you can activate the your Windows 8 Administrator Account.Windows 8 Administrator Account is the default built in administrator, that has the authority to perform any kind of administrative operation. It is recommended to activate Windows 8 Administrator Account , as it could be useful in case you forgot your current user defined administrator’s password. It can also be used in situations where there are problems in the user defined administrator’s profile.
To activate the your Windows 8 Administrator Account follow any of the below options:
Open RUN command by pressing on the WIN key + R , and type lusrmgr.msc and click Ok
Double click the Users option from the LUSRMGR window and the below screen will appear
Right click on Administrator and click on Properties
From the Properties dialog, uncheck Account is disabled, and click on Apply and then OK.
Now that you have enabled the default Windows 8 Administrator User Account, you can proceed to create a password for it. To do this right click on Administrator account then select Set Password option
You will get the above dialogue, click Proceed to continue, and then enter your password and click OK.
Option 2: Using command line
Open the command line prompt by navigating to C:\Windows\system32 and browsing for cmd and then right click on it and select Run as administrator
Type ‘ net user administrator /active:yes’ in the command line prompt and the user administrator will be enabled.
You should get “The command completed successfully” to confirm that the administrator user account was enabled successfully.
Note: It is advisable to use the administrative account for maintenance and troubleshooting only.
